EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that occur as the result of disturbing life experiences. EMDR Therapy has been shown to help heal the mind from psychological trauma.

How Is EMDR A Form Of Psychotherapy?

EMDR deals effectively with fundamental trauma at the root of many forms of human distress. When we are in distress, we often get ‘stuck in repeat’, and our self-awareness tells us we’re in distress. There is an EMDR protocol, and it came into being through many forms of research that illustrate its effectiveness. YOU choose from a variety of pathways to be free of your trauma.  Your therapist follows you throughout, and you are not asked to do anything that does not feel natural to you.

Quotes From EMDR Clients:

“My traffic accident doesn’t feel disturbing at all any more … I can get on the road now – even drive past big lorries.  I didn’t think I’d manage that again!”

“I can talk to my husband now without feeling angry or anxious – it’s been great for our marriage and I don’t worry so much about the effect our arguments used to have on the kids.”

“After the bullying I went through, I really didn’t think I’d be able to trust an employer again.  But it’s okay – I get up, go in and put in a full day’s work  – and I’ve got my eyes set on better things for the future.”
