Barbara Mulligan

Barbara is a professionally qualified, experienced counsellor with long term experience with private and NHS patients.  Most importantly, she will listen and work with you in a non-judgmental way.

She specialises in a psychodynamic counselling. Regular sessions give you time to think and to talk about the feelings you have about yourself and other people. They also give you space to look at what is happening in your life at present and what has happened in the past. You look and explore how the past can affect the present, how you are feeling, thinking and behaving right now.

Barbara is able to establish a good working alliance with clients. Her empathy and clear boundaries provide clients with a supportive and safe environment in which they can overcome difficulties and trauma and achieve personal understanding.

She offers time limited and open ended therapy.

Barbara is a fully qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). She is dedicated towards Continuing Professional Development and attends regular supervision.

She qualified as a teacher and has worked in a variety of schools including those catering for children with both mental and physical handicap.

She also has over four years experience working with Victim Support in South West London. Extensive training is undertaken to help victims of crime and she specializes in supporting those who had experienced domestic violence.

She has been working as a Counsellor for more than seven years, both independently in a voluntary sector and in collaboration with South West London and St. George's Mental Health Trust as a psychotherapist in an out-patient Psychotherapy Department.
